Boiler make-up water is both water-intensive and energy-intensive, and it is also the most strictly regulated water-use segment in power plant water quality control. Impurities in water can readily damage boiler equipment, so the feedwater must be pretreated to meet the required standards.

Selecting the appropriate boiler water treatment process requires careful consideration of both water source characteristics and required water quality standards. Moreover, the boiler make-up water systems have very low fault tolerance; any malfunction may lead to a shutdown of the entire steam-water cycle. The reclaimed water in power plant comes from diverse sources with intermittent discharge, leading to significant fluctuations in water quality. It mainly includes circulating blowdown water, chemical concentrated water and treated domestic wastewater. The volume of reclaimed water discharge is considerable and its recovery value is high. Efficient treatment directly improves the overall water utilization efficiency of the plant.

This type of water typically contains elevated levels of suspended solids, hardness and COD. It requires processes such as coagulation, sedimentation, filtration, softening and desalination to meet purification standards before it can be reused. June 25–26, 2026,SHUIYI Membrane Technology participated in the 15th Power Industry Chemical Technology Exchange Conference, where the company showcased its core membrane products, integrated water treatment solutions and successful project applications at its dedicated exhibition booth.
